Welcome to this new challenge badge which we hope will spark lots of interest in the diversity of healthcare and the range of possible jobs which could be open to our members.
Behind the scenes in healthcare has 3 sections, creative, community and careers.
In these sections, you will find art and design challenges, craft ideas, writing and performance activities; ideas to encourage members to think of others, the patient groups using hospital services as well as staff and volunteers who support them. This is also an opportunity for members to put themselves in other people’s shoes and find out what their experience of healthcare might be like.
This challenge pack comes with ideas which are suitable for all Sections in Scouting and Girlguiding and could work for lodges, sixes, patrols, or for the whole drey, colony, pack, unit, or troop etc., as well as on an individual basis. It is up to the Leaders and their members as to which activities they select from the suggestions. Perhaps your whole Group might complete the challenge badge in a particular term, or one Section might use it as a theme for a camp.
You can use the challenge pack in whatever way works best for your members. We have included ideas and games for all ages and abilities.
The badge, and the challenges within it, have been developed by a group of Scouting and Guiding Leaders who work in a variety of roles within Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
